If Hazel’s carrot seeds appear to be missing during The First Sprout, hold R to open the Tool Wheel. A quick tap can leave you looking in the wrong place. The demo’s seed instructions specifically direct you to the wheel when quest seeds or seeds purchased from Hazel are not visible.
Find the seeds through the Tool Wheel
- Hold R until the Tool Wheel opens. On a gamepad, hold the corresponding button shown by the game.
- Use the wheel’s add-item interaction: left-click on keyboard and mouse, or the corresponding gamepad input, to add an item from your inventory.
- Locate the carrot seeds and select them for the planting objective.
- Return to the quest’s planting step and follow its current prompt.
Opening the inventory tab alone is not the same check as opening the Tool Wheel. Check the hold interaction before buying replacement seeds or treating the quest as broken.
Recognize the revised tutorial
The October 21 demo patch changed the Tool Wheel tutorial. Its prompt now appears during planting, remains visible for up to four minutes, and dismisses when you open the wheel. That change explains why older instructions or an earlier session may have made the seeds harder to find.
If the seeds are still absent
If you have opened the wheel and checked its inventory interaction but the required seeds still do not appear, report the remaining problem through the game’s bug report route. Include the quest stage, whether Hazel has already given you seeds, and a screenshot of the wheel. There is no confirmed universal recovery step for a genuinely missing seed item; deleting your character is not part of the documented solution.
